We are hiring four (4) Seasonal Parks Crew Lead - Turf for the upcoming 2026 season:

 

  • Two (2) positions:         April 6, 2026 – November 27, 2026
  • Two (2) positions:         May 4, 2026 – November 27, 2026

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary: 

As a Seasonal Parks Crew Lead, you will take charge of your crew, lead by example, boost efficiency, motivate your team, hold everyone accountable, and-most importantly- keep safety front and center for yourself and your crew every day.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Supervise, train and direct your crew in skilled and manual tasks, safely operating mowers, tractors, skid-steers, trimmers, trucks, trailers, blowers, hand tools, and all other related equipment.
  2. Lead implementation of green space maintenance programs, including mowing/trimming grass, litter/garbage pickup, weed control, gravel cleanup, tree pruning, gardening, mulching beds/ tree wells, pathway debris cleaning, spring/fall cleanups, and equipment/vehicle maintenance.
  3. Take daily directions from the Parks Coordinator and Parks Crew Lead; plan and organize daily tasks, provide guidance, and ensure work meets city standards.
  4. Prioritize crew safety; deliver training, enforce protocols, track safety records and time, and make sure everyone is performing their duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  5. Perform minor equipment servicing and greasing, keep vehicles and equipment clean daily, report any damage or issues promptly.
  6. Ensure that areas scheduled for that day are completed up to standards and to log the time spent in each area.
  7. Assist other departments or employees as needed.

       8. Responsible for using confidential information appropriately and maintaining the confidentiality and security of all information related to the city.

      10. Other related duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Experience leading crews is considered an asset.
  • Experience performing duties in parks, golf or landscaping environments is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment is considered an asset.
  • Truck and trailer experience is considered an asset.
  • Load securement experience is considered an asset.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead by example, direct others and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in written form.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
  • Standard First Aid CPR/AED or the ability to obtain within first 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires physically demanding work in all types of weather conditions.

Compensation: Pay Grade will be determined by position placement.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour.
