We are hiring one (1) Seasonal Parks Rough Cut Mower – Turf for the upcoming 2026 season:

 

  • One (1) position:          May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

 

Position Summary:

As a Seasonal Parks Rough Cut Mower, you will be responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of green spaces, dog parks, ditches and fire cuts along roadways and paths.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  1. Responsible for mowing green spaces, fire cuts and ditches utilizing a tractor with a 15-foot-wide mowing attachment.
  1. Responsible for daily equipment checks, as well as minor servicing (greasing) of the equipment, including keeping the Rough-Cut Mower clean daily.
  2. Operating large equipment safely in the presence of the public.
  3. Ensure that areas scheduled for that day are completed up to standards and to log the time spent in each area.
  4. Reporting any broken or faulty equipment to the full-time parks crew leader.
  5. Assist other departments or employees as needed.
  6. Ensure the duties and responsibilities as outlined are completed in the most efficient, safe and effective manner.
  7. Responsible for using confidential information appropriately and maintaining the confidentiality and security of all information related to the city.
  8. Demonstrates City values of Collaboration, Humour and Fun, Integrity, Professionalism, and Accountability.
  9. Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Experience performing duties in parks, golf or landscaping environments is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment is considered an asset.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in written form.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
  • Physically able to perform required duties.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate a mower, compost turner, front end loader and various other equipment as assigned.
  • Standard First Aid CPR/AED or the ability to obtain within first 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires physically demanding work in all types of weather conditions.

Compensation: Pay Grade will be determined by position placement.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour.
