We are hiring up to two (2) Construction Labourer for the upcoming 2026 season:

• Two (2) positions:         May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Parks Construction Crew Lead, the Parks Construction Labourer is responsible for assisting the Parks Construction Crew Lead in the overall upkeep and maintenance of the city parks, green spaces and playgrounds.

Key Accountabilities:

• Maintain city parks and green spaces by performing the following responsibilities: litter picking, mulching beds, amenity maintenance, digging trenches, preparation of topsoil and sod and irrigation repairs.

• Assist the Parks Crew Lead with the maintenance of parks amenities including repair, painting and installation
• Provide assistance to other departments or employees as needed.
• Ensure the duties and responsibilities as outlined are completed in the most efficient, effective and safe manner.
• Responsible for using confidential information appropriately and maintaining the confidentiality and security of all information related to the city.
• Demonstrates city values of Collaboration, Humour and Fun, Integrity, Professionalism, and Accountability.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Experience operating basic construction tools such as saws, drills and wrenches

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of parks maintenance procedures.
• Working knowledge of basic operating equipment.
• Ability to operate and maintain small tools, (miter saw, drill, cement mixer, grinder, etc.)
• Ability to multi-task and compete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
• Ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral form.
• Possess a class 5 Driver’s License.
• Possess a Driver’s Abstract deemed satisfactory by the city.

Working Conditions:

• Majority of work is performed in outdoor conditions.
• Required to perform moderate physical work, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Compensation: Pay Grade will be determined by position placement.

Pay: Level 1 $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr. (you'll find detailed information in Appendix A of the draft collective agreement)
