Election Worker

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Returning Officer, Election Workers will work on Election Day and/or at Advance Polls.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Attend the voting station on all voting days for the 2025 Municipal Election:
    • Saturday October 11, 2025
    • Friday October 17, 2025
    • Saturday October 18, 2025
    • Monday, October 20, 2025
  • Assist in setting up the voting station. 
  • Process voters who come to the voting station.
  • Ensure voter ID requirements are met.
  • Provide voters with ballots.
  • Answer questions from voters and instruct voters on the voting process.
  • Responsible for accurately and fully completing their duties before, during and after voting times, including counting votes and ensuring secrecy.
  • Attend the mandatory 2025 Municipal Election Worker training.
  • Abide by instructions provided by the Returning Officer.
  • Appropriate and responsible use of confidential information; maintains confidentiality and security of all information related to the City.
  • Ensures a safe and healthy work environment for staff, visitors, the community and stakeholders, e.g., participates in workplace safety initiatives, participate in formal and informal worksite safety and environment inspections and audits, ensures compliance with the City’s Health and Safety Management System, reports and assists in the analysis of near misses or incidents.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Prior election experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to speak and understand a second language is considered an asset.

 

Required Certifications and/or Documentation:

  • Criminal Record Check deemed satisfactory by the City.
