Position Summary:
As a member of the RCMP Clerical team, the RCMP Detachment Clerk provides administrative services to support the RCMP detachment. This includes, but is not limited to, customer service, handling inquiries, general administrative support, and Court Liaison for Traffic Criminal and Federal Matters.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provides intermediate level clerical support including:
- Acts as the primary point of contact for customers at the front desk, via the telephone or fax, relaying and/or providing information as appropriate; assists the public and agencies with policing inquiries including replies to Insurance letter requests.
- Receives complaints and creates PROS files for assignment; creates Pat Collision reports for collisions meeting criteria; maintains and replenishes front counter forms and filing.
- Completes Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) queries, entries and modifications and removals for both property and persons; completes monthly CPIC validations and purge lists; monitor incoming CPIC messages in both CPIC Web and PROS.
- Go to person on a rotational basis to assist members with sending CPIC Messages; Linking of entities on PROS or PAT; PROS Information Management assistance.
- Receives and performs CPIC, PROS, PIP, PIRS and JOIN for the completion of Criminal Record Checks; maintains paperwork for the Criminal Record Check bulk files; takes electronic fingerprints for civilian purposes; receives and processes applicable municipal and RCMP fees for criminal record checks and fingerprints.
- Processes paper tickets, creates and maintains monthly PROS bulk files; prepares files for traffic trials, including court packages and preparing subpoenas; liaises with Crown Prosecutors, Crown Assistants and Court Clerks; updates files with court dispositions.
- Prepares and submits information for swearing; forwards court packages for disclosure; ensures all monitoring tasks are in place; monitors files in the court process; updates court files with dispositions; notifies RCMP members of trial dates; liaises with Criminal Crown and Federal Crown; creates “fail to Appear” files for any warrants issued; monitors front counter task queue for persons who fail to attend for fingerprint and liaise with member before charges are laid under the Identification Act; burns any video footage for disclosure; filing of Court Documents
- Submits fingerprints via LiveScan once charges have been sworn; adds ident reports and charges to PROS; uploads prisoner photos to PROS; adds court dispositions to CJIM.
- Participates in the enhancement and implementation of City policies and procedures within legislative, regulatory requirements and best practices as required.
- Assists the Team Lead, Detachment Clerks with sensitive issues.
- Appropriate and responsible use of confidential information; maintains confidentiality and security of all information related to the City.
- Ensures a safe and healthy work environment for staff, visitors, the community and stakeholders, e.g., participates in workplace safety initiatives, participate in formal and informal worksite safety and environment inspections and audits, ensures compliance with the City’s Health and Safety Management System, reports and assists in the analysis of near misses or incidents.
- Participates as a member of the Chestermere Emergency Response team in preparing and enabling the community to respond in the event of a local or regional disaster.

Required Education and Experience:
- 2-3 years experience combined with certification in Office Administration
- Direct experience in data entry and working with confidential information.
Required Certifications and/or Documentation:
- Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence and Driver’s Abstract deemed satisfactory by the City.
- Clean Criminal Record Check and RCMP Security Clearance are required.
Expected Skills and Attributes:
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to maintain ongoing communication to anticipate and prevent potential problems, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, the public and other stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret policies and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Strong work ethic and highly motivated; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to action requests in a timely matter.
- High attention to detail and accuracy of data input.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience in a policing environment is considered an asset.

- Stress associated with risk management, exposure to graphic and sensitive information and the responsibility for efficient clerical support for the team.

Compensation: Pay Grade will be determined by position placement.
Pay: $33.80/hr. (you'll find the detailed information in Appendix A of the draft collective agreement)
